Her comments come after Donald Trump announced the imposition of 30% tariffs on products from the EU and Mexico from August 1. While Meloni says Europe has the power to negotiate a fair deal, the Italian opposition criticizes her for caving in to US threats. The European Commission, led by Ursula von der Leyen, has decided not to retaliate immediately, hoping for a deal that avoids additional tariffs.
