Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says the European Union has become an enemy of Russia and a threat to its security. Although Russia has long opposed Ukrainian membership of NATO, Medvedev says the EU, now seen as an anti-Russian organization, poses a similar danger. He emphasized that Ukraine should not be free to join the EU, believing this would harm Russia. Ukraine was granted EU candidate country status in 2022.
