Marco Rubio, before the Munich Security Conference: "I believe that (the Europeans) want to know where we are heading, where we would like to go, where we would like to reach together with them"

Marco Rubio, the American Secretary of State, stated before the Munich Security Conference that Europeans are interested in understanding the direction in which transatlantic relations are heading and how they wish to collaborate in this new geopolitical era.

"I believe they will - sincerely - want to know where we are heading, where we would like to go, where we would like to go together with them. This is our hope. It is an important conference, it is the third time I participate, twice as Secretary of State. (...) The world is changing very rapidly right before our eyes. The old world has disappeared - honestly, the world in which we grew up - and we are living in a new geopolitical era, and this will require everyone to reassess what this new reality means and what our role will be," said Marco Rubio after being asked what he thinks Europeans hope to hear.

He mentioned that he had private discussions with U.S. allies and that the meetings at the conference are essential for advancing in the desired direction. Rubio also emphasized the strong cultural and personal ties between the U.S. and Europe, highlighting the importance of discussions about a common future.
