One month after the statement of the U.S. envoy, John Cole, regarding a possible visit by Lukashenko to the U.S., the Belarusian president had harsh words for his American counterpart, Donald Trump, labeling him a "temporary leader" who will achieve nothing in his four years in office. In an interview with the Russian channel RT, Lukashenko emphasized that Western leaders, such as Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz, are acting in personal interest due to their short time in power. Although he acknowledged the difficulties of negotiations with the West, Lukashenko expressed openness to dialogue, stressing that Minsk must follow a "multivector" foreign policy. Despite expressing a desire to relinquish power, Lukashenko has remained in charge of Belarus since 1994, despite international criticism.
