Serghei Lavrov will make an official visit to China on April 14-15, where he will discuss with the head of Chinese diplomacy, Wang Yi, the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and the strengthening of bilateral relations. This visit takes place in the context of intensified cooperation between Beijing and Moscow, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiakun, confirmed the meeting, emphasizing that the discussions will focus on coordinating positions on international and regional issues of common interest. The Russian Ministry mentioned that Lavrov and Wang will specifically address the situation in Ukraine and the challenges in the Middle East. Economic and political relations between the two countries have deepened significantly, and recent collaboration was also highlighted by a phone conversation held on April 5, in which they agreed on reducing tensions in the Middle East.
