Serghei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, communicated to the North Korean chief of diplomacy, Choe Son Hui, that the troops deployed by Pyongyang contribute to the expulsion of the "Ukrainian Nazi clique" from the Kursk region.
This statement was reported by the KCNA news agency. Lavrov emphasized that Russia and North Korea are collaborating to establish a "new and just world order," highlighting North Korea's military support for Russia in the conflict with Ukraine.
The message was conveyed on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese rule.
Lavrov reminded of the historical ties between the two countries, which fought together against Japanese militarism.
Additionally, leaders Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin exchanged letters, emphasizing an expanding strategic partnership. Bilateral relations have significantly strengthened since June 2024, when a defense pact was signed, facilitating North Korea's military support for Russia.
