Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov defended the press restrictions, saying they were justified in the context of an 'information war' against Russia. Since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, the authorities have closed independent publications and expanded repressive laws. Peskov noted that despite the current censorship, there is a possibility that the Russian media environment will be liberalized in the future.
