Kim Jong Un declared on Monday that North Korea will never give up its status as a nuclear power, calling South Korea the "most hostile state." In a speech in the plenary session of the parliament in Pyongyang, he emphasized the commitment to strengthen the nuclear arsenal and intensify the fight against hostile forces. Kim stated that the development of the nuclear arsenal is "fully justified" and promised a "fully operational readiness" of nuclear forces to counter strategic threats. He also warned that any act against North Korea will be dealt with severely. Kim Jong Un was re-elected as the chairman of the State Affairs Commission, thus consolidating his power within the North Korean regime.
