North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inaugurated a luxury mountain resort in Samjiyon, equipped with recreational facilities, restaurants, and jacuzzis, promoting it as a symbol of national development.

The KCNA news agency described the resort as an attractive tourist destination for the North Korean people. Kim Jong Un inspected the facilities, including hotel rooms and commercial areas, praising the resort as evidence of the nation's continuously growing ideal. He also characterized the area as an "innovative and very civilized oasis," reflecting the country's tourist culture. State media emphasized that the new facilities demonstrate the dignity of the North Korean people, without mentioning, however, the affordable costs for citizens, who earn on average only 3 dollars a month.
