Kharg Island, considered one of the most strategic energy locations of Iran, was recently targeted by airstrikes from the United States, which hit military installations but avoided oil infrastructure. The island, located in the Persian Gulf, manages about 90% of Iran's oil exports and is essential for the country's economy.
According to American officials, the attacks targeted naval mine depots, missile bunkers, and other military objectives, while the oil terminals remained intact. President Donald Trump warned, however, that these could become targets if Iran continues to block ships in the Strait of Hormuz, a situation that could lead to a major escalation in the region and significant increases in global oil prices.
