The Prime Ministers of Japan, Sanae Takaichi, and Australia, Anthony Albanese, agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including energy security, defense, and essential minerals, following their meeting on Monday at the Australian Parliament. Takaichi emphasized the importance of close communication between the two countries, considering the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on global supply chains. Australia is a major supplier of liquefied natural gas to Japan, and recent agreements will reduce the vulnerability of both nations to economic shocks.

The joint statement aims to maintain trade flows for essential energy products and addresses China's manipulation of rare earth production. Australia will allocate 1.3 billion Australian dollars for essential minerals projects with Japan, and defense cooperation will be strengthened, including through the delivery of warships from Japan.
