Jack Lang, former French minister and president of the Arab World Institute (IMA), has resigned following the opening of a judicial investigation into his connections with Jeffrey Epstein.
At the age of 86, Lang has been under pressure from the French government, which has asked him to reflect on his position in light of the revelations from the American judicial files. Although there are no formal charges against him, his name appears 673 times in documents related to Epstein. Lang has stated that the accusations are unfounded and that he will prove this. Following his resignation, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot will initiate the procedure for appointing an interim president. Lang has led the IMA since 2013 and has been known for his cultural contributions, but he now faces serious accusations that require a thorough investigation. His lawyer emphasized that Lang is determined to combat the slanders and defend his reputation.
