Italy's public debt rose in April by €30.1 billion to €3.064 trillion. The share held by foreign investors rose from 31.9% to 32.4% and the central bank's share fell to 20.2%. Italy is facing the excessive deficit procedure and has committed to bring the deficit below 3% of GDP by 2026, with debt estimated to reach almost 138% of GDP in 2026. Analysts warn that this target is becoming harder to reach because of slow economic growth.
