Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that Italy intends to send air defense aid to the Gulf countries in response to Iranian airstrikes. Meloni emphasized that, alongside friendly relations, the main reason for this decision is to protect the approximately 2,000 Italian soldiers deployed in the region and the tens of thousands of Italians living there. This initiative aligns with the actions of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, which condemned the Iranian attacks and committed to protecting their interests and those of their allies in the Gulf.

"We are talking about defense and, especially, about air defense. We are not at war and we do not want to enter into war," said Giorgia Meloni, according to Il Foglio.
