<p>The University of Istanbul has canceled the degree of Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayor of the metropolis, on the grounds of forgery of official documents. The decision excludes him from Turkey's presidential race, where he was considered Recep Tayyip Erdogan's main rival. Imamoglu's lawyers are challenging the legality of the annulment and have the option of appealing in court.
