The Israeli ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, stated that his country does not want France to get involved in the peace negotiations with Lebanon, emphasizing that Israel prefers to keep France away from these discussions. Leiter made these statements in the context of the French authorities requesting both parties to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the negotiations mediated by the United States.

France recently condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which resulted in over 350 deaths and 1,200 injuries, calling them 'intolerable'. Paris has also insisted on including the Lebanese front in a broader ceasefire negotiated with Iran.

Tensions between French President Emmanuel Macron and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have increased, especially due to France's efforts to recognize a Palestinian state, further complicating relations between the two countries in the context of the Middle East conflict.
