Israel expands ground operation in Lebanon: the army announces new intervention areas against Hezbollah

The Israeli army announced on Sunday the expansion of its ground operations in Lebanon against Hezbollah, after crossing the Litani River, located about 30 kilometers from the border with Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that southern Lebanon is considered a "combat zone" and that Israeli troops have begun offensives in areas such as Beaufort Castle and Wadi al-Saluki, aiming to eliminate threats to the localities in northern Galilee. In contrast, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned Israel's policy, stating that it will not bring security and stability.

He also supported the continuation of negotiations with Israel, scheduled for June 2 and 3 in Washington.
