The Israeli security cabinet has updated the war aims to include 'the safe return of northern residents to their homes'.

Until now, Israel had set out to destroy Hamas's military capabilities, free hostages and remove the threat to the country. Now, on top of this, it has added the goal of ensuring the safe return of northern residents to their homes amid clashes with militias in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
