Director Mohammad Rasoulof, winner of the Golden Bear at the 2020 Berlinale, has been sentenced to 8 years in prison in Iran.

Mohammad Rasoulof has been sentenced to 8 years in prison, of which 5 are to be served, and flogging by a Tehran court. The sentence comes amid an alleged violation of national security. The director was also ordered to pay a fine and ordered to forfeit assets. There is as yet no official confirmation of the sentence.
