Several countries, including Britain and Canada, have imposed sanctions against far-right Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, accusing them of inciting violence against Palestinians. The measures include asset freezes and travel bans. While the countries imposing the sanctions claim their actions are aimed at curbing violence, the US sees them as unproductive and argues they should focus on Hamas. Israel has criticized the sanctions and Netanyahu has accused the countries concerned of supporting Hamas.
