India has surpassed Japan, becoming the fourth largest economy in the world, with an estimated GDP of 4.180 trillion dollars. Officials in New Delhi hope to surpass Germany in the next three years, with projections suggesting a GDP of 7.300 trillion dollars by 2030. However, official confirmation will depend on the final data from 2026.
Although India is enjoying rapid economic growth, challenges persist, including tariffs imposed by the USA and the need to create jobs for young graduates. India's GDP per capita is significantly lower than that of Japan and Germany, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented tax cuts and labor law reforms to stimulate the economy. India became the fifth largest economy in 2022, surpassing the United Kingdom.
