Friday night's fire at a synagogue in Victoria's eastern capital was started by an unknown man using flammable liquid. Premier Jacinta Allan said any attack on a house of worship is an act of hatred. The incident took place during a Shabbat meal and the Jewish community condemned the escalation of anti-Semitic violence. Australia has recently seen several similar attacks, sparking outrage in Israel.
