At the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that Hungary opposes the relocation of European Union forces training to Ukraine, considering that this could lead to a direct armed confrontation with Russia.

Szijjarto emphasized that the majority of EU member states are also NATO members, which could escalate the conflict into a world war. He also criticized the European Union for not being prepared for peace in Ukraine, viewing Brussels as an obstacle to the peace efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The minister reaffirmed Hungary's opposition to sending arms to Ukraine and to financial aid for military purposes, including a package of 1.5 billion euros. Szijjarto also rejected calls for sanctions against Russian energy companies, arguing that these would affect Hungary's access to cheap energy resources.

Relations between Hungary and Ukraine are tense, and Szijjarto accused Ukraine of interfering in Hungary's internal politics by supporting the opposition.
