Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that Hungary openly purchases Russian gas due to a lack of alternatives, in contrast to other European countries that secretly acquire it through other states to benefit from lower prices. He emphasized that the difficulties related to the capacity of pipelines in Southeast Europe affect Hungary's energy security, highlighting the European Union's refusal to support the expansion of these capacities.
