Peter Szijjarto, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, requested NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to stop 'fueling war tensions', stating that his recent remarks undermine the peace efforts of American President Donald Trump. Szijjarto dismissed Rutte's statements, which suggest that Russia could attack NATO in the next five years, calling them 'irresponsible' and 'dangerous'.

He emphasized that Ukraine is fighting for its own interests, not for those of NATO. Rutte, at the Munich Security Conference, stated that NATO is 'the next target of Russia' and highlighted the need to increase defense spending, mentioning that Russia has become more 'aggressive and ruthless' in its actions against NATO and Ukraine.
