The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto, stated that Hungary is interested in diversifying its gas sources, including through the import of gas from the Neptun Deep gas field in the Black Sea. Szijjarto emphasized that the decision regarding the structure of domestic consumption and gas exports is the responsibility of Romania, but Hungary would be willing to conclude a trade agreement with OMV Petrom to import gas. He also mentioned that MOL, the Hungarian energy company, could negotiate the acquisition of Lukoil's assets, but considers Russia a reliable partner for energy supply. Regarding energy cooperation between Romania and Hungary, Szijjarto praised the exemplary collaboration and mentioned the increase in the capacity of the gas interconnector, anticipating an important role for Romania in supplying the region with gas.
