On Tuesday, an Iranian military helicopter crashed in a square in the city of Dorcheh, located in Isfahan province, about 330 kilometers south of Tehran. The incident, reported by Iranian state media, resulted in the deaths of four people, including the pilot and co-pilot, as well as two people on the ground. Authorities have not provided details about the cause of the crash, and an investigation is underway.

Dorcheh is an area with an important airbase and a nuclear site, having a history of aviation incidents. This accident comes shortly after the crash of an F-4 fighter jet, which resulted in the death of a pilot. Iran is facing difficulties in maintaining aircraft due to Western sanctions, which limit access to essential spare parts. Another notable incident occurred in May 2024, when former president Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter accident.
