Grand Duke Guillaume has taken the throne of Luxembourg from his father, Henri, who abdicated after 25 years of reign.

Grand Duke Henri launched the transition process to the throne, and on October 3, 2024, Grand Duke Guillaume, at the age of 43, was crowned, succeeding his father. The abdication ceremony took place at the Grand Ducal Palace, followed by Guillaume taking the oath. The new sovereign promises a more open style, influenced by his Cuban heritage. Guillaume is married to Countess Stephanie and they have two children. Celebrations will take place throughout the country to mark this historic event.
