Google has shut down thousands of YouTube channels and blocked web domains associated with influence-peddling campaigns coordinated by states such as Russia, China and Iran.

Between April and June 2025, Google shut down more than 2,200 YouTube channels engaged in geopolitical influence campaigns, promoting the interests of Russia and China, as well as other countries such as Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Israel and Ghana. These channels distributed content critical of the West and its supporters, and in Romania, Google took action against a Romanian-language influencer network. These actions are part of Google's efforts to combat misinformation on its platforms, in collaboration with organizations such as Meta and OpenAI.
