Johann Wadephul, the German foreign minister, rejected Moscow's accusations that Germany's support for Ukraine was fueled by a desire for revenge. Wadephul emphasized that these claims are an attempt by Russia to distract attention from its own actions.

Russia accused Berlin of being obsessed with settling historical scores, but Wadephul stated that Germany acknowledges its past and will not accept attempts to downplay criticism of Russia's behavior. He also mentioned that Germany is constructively contributing to ending the war in Ukraine, while Russia continues to adopt a destructive attitude.
