The German Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt, announced a reform plan for the asylum system, aimed at facilitating access for asylum seekers to the labor market. According to the new plan, they will be able to work after just three months of residence in Germany, even if the asylum procedure is not completed.

This measure aims to quickly integrate asylum seekers into society and reduce social costs. The work ban will be lifted, and individuals housed in reception centers will have faster access to job opportunities.

The Ministry of the Interior emphasized that there will be no obligation to work and that the right to work will not influence the final decision regarding asylum. The reform will apply to any type of work, but it will not benefit individuals with rejected applications or those who do not cooperate in the procedure.

Additionally, income obtained from work will be taken into account in the case of social benefits, thus contributing to cost reduction. This reform is part of a broader process of reorganizing German legislation in the field of asylum, in accordance with the new common European asylum system.
