The German Minister of Labor, Bärbel Bas, stated that the country has an urgent need for foreign workers to fill numerous vacant jobs, emphasizing that the German economy requires people capable of developing new ideas and working in various sectors.
Although there are approximately 3 million unemployed people in Germany, they cannot cover the labor shortage, considering that their skills do not match the market demands. Additionally, the proportion of foreign workers in Germany has significantly increased over the last ten years, reaching 17%. The minister emphasized that migration is essential for the economic performance and social stability of the country, warning that the absence of immigration could lead to a decrease in prosperity.
