The German foundation EVZ, dedicated to preserving the memory of Nazi crimes, has been declared 'undesirable' in Russia by the General Prosecutor's Office, which accuses it of anti-Russian positions and fundraising for Ukraine. Germany has condemned the move, stressing the importance of the foundation's work in compensating victims of Nazism. EVZ has suspended activities in Russia and Belarus because of the crackdown, and Russia has stepped up its crackdown on German organizations since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine.
