The German government has adopted a cautious position following discussions held by American President Donald Trump with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The spokesperson for the German government appreciated Trump's commitment to seeking a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, which would ensure Ukrainian sovereignty and European security. However, he emphasized that the responsibility for ending the war lies with Moscow, noting the discrepancies between Putin's statements and the attacks on Ukraine during the Christmas period. The meeting between Zelensky and Trump, held at his residence in Florida, concluded without significant achievements, although both leaders reported progress towards a peace agreement.
