Johann Wadephul, the German foreign minister, said Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking a capitulation of Ukraine by refusing genuine negotiations. During his unannounced visit to Kiev, Wadephul pledged firm support for Ukraine, including the provision of modern weapons and humanitarian aid. He emphasized the importance of Ukraine's freedom in German foreign policy, in the context of intensifying Russian attacks and stalled peace talks.
