German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has unveiled a draft budget involving significant debt to revitalize Germany's economy. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil criticized previous austerity policies, pointing to deteriorating infrastructure. The budget foresees borrowing of €847bn over the entire legislature, with €143bn planned for 2025. It also aims to meet NATO's defense spending targets.
