The constitutional amendment proposed by Emmanuel Macron's government is to be approved by the French Congress by a very large majority. This reform comes in stark contrast to regressive trends in many other countries where abortion rights are restricted or threatened. France legalized abortion in 1975, and now plans to explicitly include it in the fundamental law.
