As of July 1, France has implemented a radical ban on smoking in all public areas frequented by children, such as parks and beaches. The measure is part of President Emmanuel Macron's pledge to create the 'first tobacco-free generation' by 2032. Smokers who break the rules can be fined €90, rising to €135 if not paid within 15 days. France stands out as the only European country with a national ban on smoking on the beach.
