Diplomatic consultations between the foreign ministers of France and China regarding the security situation in Iran

The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, had a phone conversation with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, to address the tense situation in Iran. The two officials agreed to collaborate to de-escalate tensions, with Barrot emphasizing the responsibility of the Iranian regime in escalating the conflict, including through unjustified attacks on other countries in the region.

He mentioned that Iran has violated UN resolutions related to its nuclear program and has committed human rights abuses. Barrot clarified that France was not involved in the actions of the United States and Israel and emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through international institutions. In the context of Iranian attacks on American bases and a French naval base, President Emmanuel Macron announced the strengthening of France's military position in the region. The two ministers agreed to maintain an open dialogue on this issue.
