Former Minister of Agriculture of China, sentenced to death with a suspended sentence for corruption, receiving a bribe of 32 million euros

The Changchun court in Jilin province sentenced Tang Renjian to death with a suspended sentence for corruption, after he accepted bribes of over 268 million yuan (32 million euros) between 2007 and 2024. The corruption charges are part of a broader campaign against corruption initiated by President Xi Jinping, which has led to the dismissal of several high-ranking officials. Tang, who was also the governor of Gansu province, admitted to the facts and expressed remorse. This sentence joins other recent corruption cases among Chinese officials.
