Fitch Ratings has confirmed Bulgaria's long-term sovereign credit rating in foreign currency at 'BBB+' and maintained a stable outlook, highlighting confidence in the country's economic fundamentals.

The assessment is based on solid fiscal and external positions, as well as a coherent policy framework. Membership in the European Union and the eurozone is considered an essential pillar of stability. However, Fitch draws attention to repeated elections and fragile coalition governments that have slowed reforms. Although the current account deficit is increasing, external indicators remain a strong point. Rating prospects could be affected by macroeconomic imbalances, political instability, or rising public debt. Improvements in political stability and institutional effectiveness could lead to a positive rating revision in the future.
