Fátima Bosch Fernández, at 25 years old, won the title of Miss Universe 2025 on Friday, during a tumultuous competition held in Bangkok. Bosch was the subject of controversy after the Thai national director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, publicly criticized her for not following his rules, which led to a show of solidarity from other contestants and an emotional apology from the organizers.

Bosch stated that she was called "stupid" and emphasized the importance of defending her dignity. The president of the Miss Universe organization, Raúl Rocha Cantú, condemned Nawat's behavior as "public aggression." Even the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, praised Bosch for her courage.

In the competition, Praveenar Singh from Thailand was the first runner-up, and Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser from Venezuela took third place. The contest was also marked by the departure of two judges who suggested possible irregularities, accusations that were dismissed. Additionally, the Thai police investigated the illegal promotion of online casinos in connection with the event. The competition was also affected by previous incidents, including a contestant falling off the stage.
