The father of two children who survived a plane crash in the Colombian jungle was sentenced to 32 years in prison for sexually abusing his stepdaughter.

In 2023, the father of two of the children who survived 40 days in the Colombian jungle after the plane crashed was sentenced to 32 years in prison for raping his stepdaughter. The girl, the oldest of the four surviving children, was 13 at the time of the crash. The children, from the indigenous Huitoto community, survived because of their ability to adapt to the jungle. The search for them attracted international attention and after they were found, the girl reported the abuse.
