A devastating explosion that occurred on Sunday at an explosives factory in Nagpur, Maharashtra, resulted in the death of at least 17 people, and another 18 were injured, according to local officials.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the incident as "very painful" and sent wishes for a speedy recovery to the survivors. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, called the accident "extremely unfortunate and tragic." An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the explosion.

This incident comes after, just a day earlier, another 21 people died in a similar explosion at a firecracker factory in Andhra Pradesh.
