The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA has issued orders requiring commercial airplanes to avoid certain areas of airspace in the Caribbean for security reasons, following escalating tensions in the region. American airlines, including American Airlines, JetBlue, and Southwest Airlines, have confirmed the cancellation of several flights to airports in Puerto Rico and Aruba.

American Airlines is monitoring the situation in collaboration with the FAA, emphasizing that passenger safety is a priority. JetBlue has canceled approximately 215 flights, noting that the restrictions are related to military activities, but flights to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica are not affected.

The duration of these restrictions remains uncertain, however, experts suggest that they are usually temporary. Additionally, major U.S. airlines have not operated direct flights to Venezuela since 2019 due to political and social instability.
