Over the weekend, cities in eastern Australia were blanketed in the heaviest snow in decades, with up to 40 centimeters in New South Wales. This stranded more than 100 vehicles and knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes. Meteorologists say climate change is contributing to the weather instability, but such events have happened in the past. Police reported a serious incident in which a passenger went missing in floodwaters.
