The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, stated on Saturday that the European Union is open to discussions with Russia to address common security issues, emphasizing that the EU will not act unilaterally.
Costa mentioned that the Union will not take measures that undermine the peace initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Before the statement, he spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reaffirming the EU's support for Ukraine in its fight for peace and the defense of common European values. Costa highlighted the courage of the Ukrainian people and stated that Ukraine's future is in the European Union, expressing his desire to advance its accession process.
