On Monday evening, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in a rural area of Nevada, east of the state capital, Carson City. The quake struck before 6:30 PM, centered 20.7 kilometers east of the town of Silver Springs, at a depth of 5 kilometers. In the town of Fallon, images were captured of broken glass and food scattered on the floor in a grocery store. Trina Enloe, who was at home with her daughter, described how she heard a rumbling noise before the shaking reached them, which lasted about a minute. Although some cast iron candle holders were knocked over, they did not notice significant damage in their home. The USGS reported that some residents in nearby communities felt strong tremors and reported minor to moderate damage.
