Survey/European opinions on the conflict in Ukraine: "Donald Trump wants Russia to win the war"

Europe is torn between continuing to support Ukraine or encouraging a negotiated peace. Almost two-thirds of the population in the United Kingdom (70%), Spain (66%), and Poland (65%) state that they want Ukraine to win the war. Europeans suspect that Donald Trump wants Russia to win, according to the latest edition of the European Political Monthly by YouGov.

The survey shows that Europeans tend to believe that the US president wants Russia to win the war, with 48-52% of Britons, French, Italians, and Spaniards stating this*. A relatively majority of Poles share the same opinion, with 37% of them.

Between 17% and 29% of the population in each country believes that Trump has no preference regarding the winner of the war; in each country, this percentage is higher than the number of those who think he wants Ukraine to win (7-16%).
