A devastating fire broke out last night at a biscuit factory near the city of Trikala, Greece, resulting in the death of four workers, whose bodies were found charred, and another worker is missing. At the time of the fire, 13 employees were at work, of which eight managed to escape before the flames engulfed the production unit.
According to officials, the fire was preceded by a powerful explosion, which led to the collapse of a section of the roof. The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, stated that six workers and a firefighter were transported to the hospital with respiratory issues, but are in good condition. Approximately 40 firefighters, supported by 13 fire trucks, were mobilized to extinguish the fire, which proved to be a difficult operation due to the flammable materials inside. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
